Abdominal aortic aneurysm is a bulging of the abdominal aortic wall. The majority of abdominal aortic aneurysm is caused by atherosclerosis. It often occurs in people above 60 years old. Most abdominal aortic aneurysm will not break. But abdominal aortic aneurysm which grows rapidly may rupture, causing life-threating bleeding. The pain around navel and in the upper abdomen is common symptoms before rupture. Some patients may have no warning symptom before rupture. Abdominal aortic aneurysm cannot heal itself. If it has an increasing trend, surgical treatment should be considered. Ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm need emergent surgery.
