Acoustic neuroma is a benign tumor. It originates in the acoustic nerve at inner ear or the brain. It is the most common type of intracranial neuroma. It is more common in adults and is rare in youth under age 20. Acoustic neuromas generally grow slowly. In some cases they may grow rapidly. Large tumor body can caused peripheral venous flow disorders, cerebrospinal fluid circulation obstruction and increased intracranial pressure. Symptoms include headache, nausea, vomiting, and hearing loss, tinnitus and others. For patients with large tumor along with increased intracranial pressure, surgery is the only option.
