Arteriosclerosis

Arteriosclerosis (atherosclerosis) is a condition of lipid deposition on the inner wall of arteries. It reduces the arterial elasticity and narrows the cavity. Arteriosclerosis is a common disease which seriously affects human health. Hyperlipidemia (high lipid blood) is an important risk factor for atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis originates in childhood and progresses over time. Symptoms usually occur in the middle age or the elderly. It often leads to thrombosis and blood supply disorders. The disease is often accompanied by high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol or diabetes. The treatment of this disease is to control risk factors. For example, if you have diabetes, blood sugar should be controlled timely, including diet control. High blood pressure patients should have the blood pressure dropping to appropriate level. If you have high blood cholesterol, you should take lipid-lowering drugs to control high cholesterol.
