Arteriovenous fistula

Arteriovenous fistula is abnormal passage between arteries and veins. Symptoms of arteriovenous fistula include nearby varicose veins, slightly raised local skin temperature, pigmentation and ulcer. In the late stages, patients include heart enlargement and failure. If left untreated, large arteriovenous fistula may lead to serious complications. If there is only one arteriovenous fistula or it is not congenital, surgical repair or resection is recommended, because it can avoid the occurrence of severe hemodynamic changes and complications during the waiting period. Congenital arteriovenous fistula patients or multiple arteriovenous fistula patients usually take conservative treatment.
