Arthritis refers to inflammation of joints. There are over 100 types of arthritis.[3][4] The most common forms are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Symptoms of arthritis include joint redness, swelling, warmth and pain. You may also feel joint stiffness and limited range of motion of the affected joints. Some arthritis can lead to joint deformity and disability in the long run. Treatment include physical exercise, physical therapy, medication, and surgery. For osteoarthritis, the first line treatment is acetaminophen (paracetamol). for inflammatory arthritis, the first line treatment involves NSAIDS like ibuprofen. Disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) can be added to treat rheumatoid arthritis.
