Autism is a type of developmental disorder caused by nervous system problems. It affects boys more often than girls. But if girls are affected, the symptoms are usually more severe than boys. The onset is generally within 36 months after birth. There are 3 groups of core symptoms: social interaction barriers, communication barriers, narrow interests and stereotyped repetitive behaviors. Unline most children, patients have no interest in toys and games. The patients have fundamental deficiencies in social interaction. In infancy, they avoid eye contact and lack of interest and response of human voice. They do not want to be picked up. If they are picked up, the body is stiff and they do not want to be close with people. When they grow up, they still lack of interest of social interaction. They cannot establish a relationship of love and marriage. There is no effective treatment for autism yet.
