Barrett's esophagus

Barrett's esophagus is a pathological phenomenon caused by long-term gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Main symptoms are chest burning sensation and pain in the chest, especially pain at night. Barrett's esophagus patients should change their eating habits, which including avoiding spicy food, quitting smoking and quitting alcohol. Drugs can be used to reduce gastric acid production, which include H2-antagonists, proton pump inhibitors, traditional antacids, and drugs promoting movement and contraction of esophagus and stomach. However, Barrett's esophagus will not disappear. Since the probability of Barrett's esophagus developing into esophageal cancer is very high, you need regular checkup.
