Bipolar disorder

Bipolar disorder is a mental disorder with both manic and depressive. Patient's mood swings greatly. They have both manic or hypomanic episode as well as depressive episode. The manic episode is characterized by emotional high and/or irritability. The depressive episode is characterized by depression and low mood. For most patients, the disease is recurrent and lasts long. Bipolar disorder often affects interpersonal relationships, work efficiency, and family life. Patients may even try self-mutilation or suicide. In most cases, bipolar disorder can be controlled by medication and psychotherapy. Medications include mood stabilizers such as valproate.
