Bone spurs

Bone spurs are bony projections. They are mainly caused by degenerative arthritis and related damage. It is a common disease for the elderly. If often affects heavy manual labor workers and athletes who use the waist a lot. If the spurs happen to be on nerve pathways, although they are small, they can cause hand or foot numbness. If the bones spurs grow in the spine spinal canal and press the spinal cord nerves, it can cause leg weakness, sensory disturbance, increased muscle tone, urine or bowel incontinence, or other serious problems. Patients with mild symptoms only need anti-inflammatory analgesic treatment. If the range of bone spurs is wide and press the peripheral soft tissue, they should be removed surgically.
