Brachial plexus injury

Brachial plexus are spinal nerves controlling the arms. The most common cause of brachial plexus injury is traction injury. Mild cases only have nervous shock and temporary dysfunction. Severe cases have nerve axons fracture, nerve root fracture and complete loss of function. Inflammation and tumor may also affect the brachial plexus. For traction brachial plexus injury, conservative treatment is done during the early stage, which means physical therapy, neurotrophic drugs (VB1, VB6, VB12, VBco, etc.) and arm function rehabilitation exercise to prevent joint contraction. Brachial plexus open injuries caused by cuts, or gunshot wounds should be repaired surgically.
