Broken heart syndrome

Broken heart syndrome is a temporary heart condition caused by stresses and extreme sadness such as losing a loved one. The left ventricle contracts sharply. Broken heart syndrome has symptoms similar to other heart disease, such as chest pain, suffocation and shortness of breath. The incidence of broken heart syndrome is related to the person's character. During the early stage, patients should be given appropriate supportive treatment (general treatment of heart disease). Although the symptoms of broken heart syndrome can be serious, the outcome is usually good. After the grief subsides, their heart function will usually return back to normal.
