Bronchiolitis

The pathological change of bronchiolitis occurs in the small bronchial in the lungs. It is a common lung infection. Bronchiolitis is usually caused by viral infection. It can also be caused by bacteria infection. Bronchiolitis often affects infants less than 6 months old. It is a common acute lower respiratory infection affecting children. It often occurs in winter and may cause local epidemics. Symptoms include persistent dry cough, fever, and episodes of wheezing. If wheezing attacks, breathing rate significantly increases. It may reach up to 60 to 80 times per minute, accompanied by prolonged expiration and expiratory wheezing. Very severe cases can have heart failure or respiratory failure. If bronchiolitis is caused by bacterial infections, antibiotics should be used. In most cases, the disease can be cured and mortality is rare.
