Brucellosis

Brucellosis is also known as Mediterranean remittent fever, Malta fever, heat wave or undulant fever. Brucellosis is an infectious diseases suffered by both human and animals. Source of infection related to human is mainly sheep, cattle and pigs, followed by dog. Human infection symptoms include prolonged fever, sweating, joint pain, and enlarged liver, spleen and lymph nodes. Once it is diagnosed, it should be treated immediately to prevent it developing into a chronic infection. Antibiotics are the main treatment during the acute phase. Commonly used antibiotics include streptomycin, tetracycline, sulfonamides and TMP.
