Bruxism or teeth grinding

Bruxism, also know as teeth grinding, is a condition that you grind the teeth when you are sleep or you grind teeth unconsciously when awake. Bruxism is more common in children but can also be seen among adults. The teeth grind each other without food as cushion, resulting in excessive wear of the protective material on tooth surface. The tooth body under tooth surface can be exposed. Mild cases are over-sensitive to cold, hot, sour or sweet food. Severe cases have gum bleeding, inflammation, loose teeth or even teeth falling off. For serious and intractable cases a protection pad should be given to prevent teeth grinding each.
