Carbon monoxide is a gas emitted when material containing carbon does not burn completely. Carbon monoxide poisoning occurs at places with too much monoxide gathering and poor ventilation. If you have carbon monoxide poisoning, the first symptom is severe headache, followed by nausea, vomiting and shortness of breath. Patients may have insanity, muscle weakness and dizziness. Patients are often unable to walk very far so they cannot escape. Finally they lose consciousness and have coma. Eventually they may die. The direct cause of death may be arrhythmia, as well as heart and brain damage.
