Childhood schizophrenia

Childhood schizophrenia is schizophrenia with onset before 12—15 years of age. The disease presents symptoms such as auditory and visual hallucinations, strange thoughts or feelings, and abnormal behavior. Childhood schizophrenia profoundly impacts the child's ability to function and sustain normal interpersonal relationships. The diagnosis criteria of schizophrenia is same for adults and children. The treatment approach of childhood schizophrenia is also same as that of adult schizophrenia. Antipsychotic drugs is the first line of treatment.
