Chronic coccidioidomycosis is the chronic form of coccidioidomycosis. The acute form of coccidioidomycosis is commonly called valley fever. The pathgen is fungus Coccidioides. If you get acute coccidioidomycosis initially and it did not resolve completely, you may develop chronic coccidioidomycosis months or years after that. Lung abscesses and scarring may form in the lung.
