Collagenous colitis and lymphocytic colitis are diarrheal disease which cannot be diagnosed through endoscopy or X-ray examination. They can only be diagnosed by biopsy. Symptoms include: chronic watery diarrhea, abdominal pain or cramps, nausea, and fecal incontinence. In many cases, adjust your diet can resolve the symptoms. Medications including anti-diarrhea drugs, drugs preventing bile acid, steroids, anti-inflammatory drugs and immune-suppressants. If the result of medication therapy is not satisfactory, a small number of patients need to remove part or even the whole colon.
