Congenital syphilis

Congenital syphilis is syphilis present at birth because the mother pass syphilis to the fetus. If untreated, syphilis infections causes a high risk of birth defects or miscarriage, stillbirths, or death in newborns. Symptoms in newborns wit congenital syphilis include fever, saddle nose, rash of the mouth, genitals, and anus, watery fluid from the nose. Symptoms in older infants and young children with congenital syphilis may include abnormal notched teeth, bone pain, blindness, cornea clouding, deafness etc. Penicillin is used to treat all forms of syphilis.


How is Congenital syphilis treated in practice?
