Coxsackievirus infections

Coxsackie virus infection is a common virus infection. The virus infects humans through the respiratory or digestive tract. It typically infects children. After a child is infected, symptoms include fever, sneezing, coughing and other symptoms similar to common cold. If a pregnant woman is infected, the virus causes polio-like lesions (but non-paralytic) as well fetal infection and malformation. Interferon is effective in treating respiratory Coxsackie virus infection.
