Craniosynostosis is a congenital malformation. Our skull is composed of several pieces of bones and there are gaps between these bones. If there gaps are closed too early, the skull will stop growing. However, the brain still grows. It will cause increased intracranial pressure, developmental delays and eye symptoms. Patient children should have surgeries early. After surgery the brain function and skull deformities can have a significant improvement. There are two surgical options: craniosynostosis reconstruction surgery and craniotomy.
