Dandruff is flake on the surface of the scalp. It is caused by too fast metabolism of the top layer of the scalp. Dandruff is not contagious. It can be controlled by frequent shampooing using appropriate shampoo. If there are a large number of special shape (granular, powder) dandruff, it may be pathological. A common possible cause is fungi infection such as Malassezia infection. It causes chronic scalp itching. Antifungal drugs for dandruff include ketoconazole, chlorine microphone methimazole and selenium sulfide. Ketoconazole is regarded as the most effective one.
