Dry macular degeneration is a chronic eye disease. It is usually a natural result of aging. With increasing age, the retinal tissue degrades, gets thinner, and causes macular function declining. The onset of dry macular degeneration is slow and the progression is also slow. The lesion of both eyes is symmetric. During the early stage, patients have visual distortion and vision loss. In the late stage, retina has white scars, pigment sediment and residual bleeding so the vision is severely impaired. Dry macular degeneration seriously affects vision, but it will not lead to total blindness. The cause is unclear. So far there are no effective treatment and prevention methods.
