Dupuytren's contracture

Dupuytren's contracture is a disease causing contracture of the metacarpophalangeal and interphalangeal joints (palm joints).The disease makes the finger unable to straighten completely, hardening and losing functions. The ring finger and little finger are the most commonly affected. It may affect one or both hands. Usually there is no pain; however, it affects your usage of your hand. The disease progresses slowly and may last for years or even decades. It may progress rapidly in several months; sometimes lesions stop but resume again. There is no satisfactory treatment yet. Currently the only treatment is surgery.
