Epidermoid cyst is small lumps appearing on the skin. It usually occurs in the face, neck, and body trunk. Sometimes it occurs in the genital area. Epidermoid cysts develop slowly. They are round with soft texture. The boundary with the surrounding tissues is clear. It has no tenderness. Generally there is no other symptom and treatment is not needed. Epidermoid cyst can be removed by surgery if there is secondary infection. Epidermoid cysts are almost always benign, but in very rare cases, they can cause skin cancer.
