Esophagitis

Esophagitis is inflammation of the esophageal mucus. Esophageal mucus is congested with blood and has edema. Symptoms include painful swallowing, difficulty swallowing, heart burn, and pain behind the breast bone. Treatment depends on the causes and severity of tissue damage. If untreated, the structure and function of esophagus may be damaged.
