Giant cell arteritis is a type of vascular inflammatory diseases. It often causes headaches, jaw pain, blurred vision or double vision. Blindness and stroke are the most serious complications of giant cell arteritis. Timely treatment is critical to prevent permanent tissue damage and loss of vision. Corticosteroid drugs can relieve symptoms. The condition may start to improve within a few days and the prognosis is usually good if treated properly.
