Glomerulonephritis is inflammation of glomeruli, a tiny ball-like filter inside your kidney. The disease is characterized by acute onset. Patients have symptoms such as blood in urine, foamy urine, urinary tube, edema, reduced urine output and hypertension 1-3 weeks after infection (if the disease is caused by infection). There is no effective drug treatment of the disease. The key for treatments is preventing the retention of water and sodium and controlling the circulating blood volume.
