Influenza (flu)

Influenza, or simply flu, is an acute respiratory infection. Typical symptoms are fever, fatigue, and muscle ache. Upper respiratory symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose and sneezing are relative mild. Influenza and its complications can be fatal. Risk of serious complications such as pneumonia is high. Risk population includes young children, the elderly, pregnant women, the immune-deficient, and chronic disease patients. The best defense for flu prevention is taking influenza vaccination annually.
