Ischemic colitis

Ischemic colitis occurs when insufficient blood supply causing poor nutrition of intestinal wall. Insufficient blood supply is caused by narrowing or blockage of intestine blood vessels. Symptoms include abdominal pain, blood in stool and diarrhea. Intestine necrosis may occur in severe cases. Ischemic colitis is most common in people over age of 60. Early diagnosis is difficult. Ischemic colitis may heal itself. If colon has been damaged then you need medication or surgery.
