Leukemia

Leukemia is a cancer of white blood cells. Too many abnormal white blood cells are generated in bone marrow and other blood-producing tissues. These abnormal white cells inhibit normal blood cells and infiltrate other organs. Symptoms include anemia, bleeding, infection etc. Certain types of leukemia are more common in children. Treatment includes drug therapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy. Some patients need bone marrow transplant. Blood-producing stem cells have also been used in recent years.
