Leukoplakia

Leukoplakia affects mouth mucous membrane. It is milky white or off-white patches caused by hyperkeratosis of mouth mucosa. The cause is unknown, but is related to tobacco, alcohol and long-term local mechanical stimulation (such as non-fitting dentures and residual crown root). Usually there are no symptoms and no treatment is needed. Sometimes severe cases may lead to cancer. You should quit smoking and alcohol to prevent it.
