Melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancers. It most often occurs in lower legs and feet, followed by trunk, head, neck and arms. In early stage, black pigment stain occurs on the skin. It can also be that size of a existing mole increases or color of a mole gets darker. As disease develops, the damage gets larger and hardness of skin increases. The lesion may be itchy. In late stage, it can spread to lungs, liver, bone and brain via blood stream. Melanoma spreads rapidly and it has a high mortality. Melanoma can be successfully treated if it is diagnosed and treated timely. Currently the only effective treatment method is surgical resection of the tumor.
