Mesenteric lymphadenitis

It is generally believed that mesenteric lymphadenitis is due to streptococcal blood infection. Some researchers think it is related with intestinal inflammation and parasitic diseases. Mesenteric lymphadenitis occurs mainly in children and adolescents. End of ileum is the most commonly affected location. Lymph nodes are congested with blood . There can be a small amount of inflammatory exudation within abdominal cavity. This disease often has symptoms and signs similar to appendicitis. Mesenteric lymphadenitis is rarely serious. If diagnosis of this disease is clear, non-surgical treatment should be considered first. Antibiotics are the main drugs, along with antispasmodic analgesics such as Anisodamine. Acute mesenteric lymphadenitis should try anti-infection treatment first. If abdominal pain, fever, and abdominal muscle tension continue after antibiotics treatment surgery should be considered.
