Mitral valve prolapse

Mitral valve is the valve located between left atrium and left ventricle, its main function is to control blood flow. Mitral valve prolapse is a condition that mitral valve cannot close completely. Although mitral valve prolapse is a lifelong disease, many patients may never have any symptoms and do not need treatment. If you have symptoms, based on severity of illness, medication or surgery can be used. If the case is severe and you have congestive heart failure, it often requires surgery. If the movement of mitral valve is good and there is no calcification, the valve can often be fixed. If it is not fixable, it can be replaced by an artificial valve.
