Myoclonus

Myoclonus is a unique type of epilepsy affecting infants. Patients have significant mental and physical developmental disorders. Encephalitis, birth trauma and traumatic brain injury are common causes. When myoclonic seizure attacks, a certain part of the body suddenly contracts quickly and forcefully. It relaxes soon after tics. It can be on one side or both sides of the body. Sometimes it attacks a few seconds or minutes after the last attack. Some patients have as many as dozens of attacks in a day. Treating the root cause of the disease can help control symptoms of myoclonus.
