Obesity

Obesity is defined as too much fat in the body. Obesity increases the risk of diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and hypertension. Consequences of obesity are similar to that of lifetime smoking: it will increase blood pressure, lipids and glucose which lead to heart disease and stroke. Obesity is a long-term physical condition, like high blood pressure or high cholesterol. Losing weight is a lifelong challenge and there are no shortcuts. Changes in diet and regular exercise are perhaps the best way to lose weight. Prescription drugs or weight-loss surgery are also options.
