Osteomalacia refers to bone softening. Osteomalacia is due to lack of vitamin D in the body, resulting in calcium and phosphorus metabolism disorder. Muscle weakness, muscle pain and bone pain are the main symptoms. In children, this situation is called rickets. People at high risk are infants and young children less than 2 years old. It can be prevented by adequate intake of vitamin D.
