Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome

Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome is one of the major complications of in vitro fertilization treatment. Stimulated by infertility medication, the ovaries swell and ache. It may even be life threatening. Mild patients generally do not need treatment and it will subside within 1 week. Severe patients should be hospitalized immediately. Increasing blood volume, balancing electrolyte and balancing acid-base are the key to treatment.
