Parvovirus infection

Parvovirus infection is common in childhood. It is highly contagious. Characteristic fresh red rash may appear on both cheeks. Ultimately, the rash may spread to arms, trunk, thighs and buttocks. Infection is usually mild and no treatment is needed. However, for pregnant women, it may cause serious health problems of fetus. For people suffering from certain types of anemia or having suppressed immunity, infection may be serious. There is no vaccine for parvovirus infection yet.
