Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) refers to inflammation of female reproductive system. It is generally caused by sexually transmitted disease pathogens spreading from vagina to uterus and upper genital tract. Symptoms include genital pain or rash, discharge with odor, painful urination and abnormal bleeding between menstrual periods. Many women suffer from pelvic inflammatory disease but have no symptoms. Pelvic inflammatory disease can cause infertility or ectopic pregnancy so it should be taken seriously.
