Pilonidal cyst

Pilonidal cyst and pilonidal sinus are both pilonidal diseases. They are characterized by having a sinus or cyst containing hair. Acute abscess perforates to form a chronic sinus. It may heal temporarily but may perforate again, and so on. The cysts contain granulation tissues, fiber tissues and hair. The abscess can cause pain, tenderness, fever, chills and general malaise. Surgery is the main treatment method.
