Pituitary tumors

Pituitary tumor is tumor of brain pituitary gland. Pituitary tumor may have symptoms caused by over-secretion of one or more types of pituitary hormones. In addition, there may be varying degrees of symptoms caused by pituitary dysfunction due to pressure on normal pituitary tissue around tumor. The vast majority of pituitary tumors are benign. Tumor is generally limited to pituitary gland or surrounding tissue, not spreading to other parts of the body. Treatment options include surgery, drugs and radiation therapy.
