Pityriasis rosea is common in children and youth. It starts as relatively big spots on chest, abdomen or back, then the rash spreads outward from the center of body. The shape resembles drooping pine branches. Pityriasis rosea is more common in spring and fall. It is itching and it is not infectious. It usually heals itself within 6-8 weeks. Treatment focuses on controlling itching. Acyclovir, famciclovir and erythromycin can speed up the treatment.
