Placenta previa

Placenta normally adhered to the rear, front or side wall of uterus body. If placenta is located at the lower uterine segment or near cervix (so that its position is lower than the first exposed part of fetus), it is known as placenta previa. Placenta previa is one of the major causes of uterine bleeding at late pregnancy stage. It is a serious complication during pregnancy. If placenta completely or partially covers uterus opening, vaginal delivery may be unsafe for the baby. Placenta previa patients need absolute bed rest. Caesarean section is recommended.
