Plantar fasciitis is a common causes of heel pain. There is inflammation in a thick band of tissue that runs across the bottom of foot and connects heel bone to toes (plantar fascia). Pain caused by plantar fasciitis often appears in the morning, just when you get up and walk. Pain generally decreases after you do some activities. However, prolonged standing or activities can increase the pain. Plantar fasciitis is particularly common in runners, overweight people and those wearing inappropriate shoes. Conservative treatment of plantar fasciitis includes stretching exercises, ultrasound, ice, and arch support pad. Most patients can recover by taking several months of conservative treatment.
