Pneumonic plague

Plague is also known as the Black Death. Plague is one of the most serious diseases in human history. It was widely spread in the whole Europe during the 1340s. It is estimated that 30% of the European population died of plague outbreaks in the Middle Age. Plague is caused by bacteria called Yersinia pestis. These bacteria live in rodents and spread to humans by flea bite. Lymph node swelling and tenderness in groins, armpits or neck is the most common symptom of plague.
