Polymyalgia rheumatica is an inflammatory muscle disease. Disease onset is usually sudden. Typical symptoms are symmetric muscle pain and stiffness on neck, shoulder blade and pelvis. Other symptoms include low fever, fatigue, malaise, and weight loss. It usually affects people aged above 50. Glucocorticoids can relieve the symptoms but have serious side effects. Its usage should be carefully monitored.
