Pontiac fever is an acute, mild flu-like illness caused by Legionella bacteria. It often affects previously healthy and young individuals. Symptoms can include fever, headaches and muscle aches. Both Pontiac fever and Legionnaires' disease are caused by the same bacteria, but Pontiac fever does not include pneumonia.
