Primary lateral sclerosis is a rare type of motor neuron disease. The disease progresses slowly. The first symptom is often spasm and weakness on both legs. Legs are stiff when you walk. It gradually spreads to arms. You may have unsteady gait and fall because of muscle stiffness and weakness. Some patients start with arm or tongue symptoms. This disease is not considered fatal in most cases.
